Adult Program
Beginner: The belts at this level (in order) are white, yellow, orange and purple. Learn the proper delivery of the various Kenpo Karate punches, kicks, blocks, locks, counter attacks. Learn basic Jujitsu body positioning and defenses against grabs like chokes, bear hugs, head locks, wrist grabs and many other grabs. Basic (forms) Kata is also learned. How to grapple on the ground is excluded from this class, however we may do some ground techniques once in a while. Sparring may be done in this class, but it's not a requirement. Intermediate: The belts at this level are 2 degrees of blue and 3 degrees of green. Sparring and ground grappling skills are used on a weekly basis in this class. The basic techniques learned in the beginner class are built upon. Ambidextrous skills will be developed. Developing reaction skills to any given situation becomes a requirement in this class. Defending against weapons like blunt and sharp objects (we use rubber knives) is also taught at this level. Developing more inner energy (Chi) through Kata is taught at the level also. Belt promotions at this level become more difficult and conditioning comes into play more than it did in the beginner class. Advanced: The belts at this level are 3 degrees of brown and black belts. All techniques previously learned are built upon with a higher focus on the level of accuracy and power. Kenpo Karate and Jujitsu blend seamlessly in and out of each other and will now become enhanced with pressure points. Black belts will learn more than 100 pressure points. Developing Chi at a higher level is stressed to the black belts in particular. Weapons such as the nunchucks, sais and bo staff are also taught. Belt promotions at the brown belt levels continue to become more challenging, peaking at the 1st degree black belt test which typically is an 8 hour test.
